Butcher Block Countertops & Kitchen Remodel | Denton, TX

Butcher block countertop installation and custom kitchen remodel in Denton, TX. Solid birch butcher blocks, farmhouse sink, and a Julia Child–inspired pegboard wall.

Project Overview

This kitchen remodel in Denton, Texas focused on upgrading finishes while preserving the character of the home. The goal was to replace worn surfaces with durable, functional materials and introduce custom details that reflected how the homeowners actually use their kitchen day to day.

The scope centered on new butcher block countertops, a statement pegboard wall inspired by Julia Child’s kitchen, and upgraded fixtures to tie the space together.

Our Approach

We began by removing the existing countertops and preparing the cabinetry for new solid birch butcher block surfaces. Each section was carefully templated, cut, and dry-fit to ensure tight seams and clean transitions, including the corner return and raised bar edge.

The butcher block countertops were finished with oil to protect the wood while maintaining a natural, warm appearance. This finish allows for easy maintenance over time and fits the lived-in nature of the space.

To anchor the kitchen visually, we installed a cast iron apron-front farmhouse sink paired with a champagne bronze Delta faucet, matching drain, and soap dispenser. These elements added weight and contrast without overpowering the room.

Custom Features and Details

A standout feature of the remodel is the custom pegboard wall, designed as a functional nod to Julia Child’s iconic kitchen. We furred the wall out to create proper clearance, painted the pegboard in a terra cotta tone, and configured the layout to allow the homeowner to hang pots, pans, and utensils in a practical and accessible way.

The result is a wall that serves as both storage and design, turning everyday tools into part of the kitchen’s visual identity.
